1st Friday Event Featuring Davy Fiveash

Last Friday the team at IS Fine Art and Design was excited to welcome everyone to our 1st Friday Event, featuring the works of local artist Davy Fiveash.

Davy’s work in centered in the spirit of spring. His still life pieces are masterfully created in the medium of watercolor pencil while others are crafted using oil paints. The focus of our show was centered around Davy’s memento mori watercolor illustrations. These pieces depict an array of lush and delicate flowers flanked by lifeless deer and bunnies, reminiscent of the old masters. The theme of his work, “tangere” meaning touch, was represented by not only the delicate and lifelike images of flowers, and but by his Serenade series as well. The Serenade series depicts young homosexual males in passionate poses leaving most of the allure to the imagination.

Our 1st Friday event on April 7th was well received by our guests.  The attendees were constantly crowded around Davy’s work, enjoying the view while conversation within the crowd flowed easily.  We would also like to thank our amazing bartenders from On the Rocks, who catered to our guests by keeping glasses full and the conversation light and humorous. Overall, the event was a blast, and the IS Team can't wait till our next event.

Second Opening for Artist David King

IS: Presents New Works By Artist David King

It was great to spend time with everyone who attended the second first Friday opening for artist David King. As we continued into our second month, David unveiled a new collection of his intriguing works. In his series of collages titled Moss, David found inspiration from his travels to New Zealand and the fascinating colors and shapes of these flowerless plants that seemed to grow everywhere. Tribal vibes moved him to create the organic Amphora and Elysium collection of collages.

It's easy to get lost in the imagination that these celestial works bring to mind. Many thanks to our special guest, vocalist Cindy Emch. Cindy's bluesy notes and accompanying bassist were a hit!

We also loved meeting more of our Noe Valley neighbors. With each first Friday we hope to inspire and get to know all of you. Community is very important to us.

On view at IS: Fine Art and Design, David King will be showing through the first week of April. We'd love to see you!

We Are Open:

Tuesday - Saturday 10AM to 6PM       Closed Sunday and Monday
