Happy Birthday Garland! An ALC Benefit

IS: Charitable

This past weekend, I had the pleasure of co-hosting the 40th birthday party and ALC Benefit for my dear friend Garland Godfrey. The AIDS/LifeCycle is a yearly, fully supported, 7-day bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to raise money and awareness in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

After donating to the ALC for years in support of his friends rides, Garland realized that he could raise more money through his own activism and participation than he could ever donate.  With ride number eight on the horizon...he has raised close to $68,000.

Making art, as long as it is accessible, is a great benefit to the community. It feeds the cultural life of the community and enables individuals to engage and think creatively to benefit their own lives. IS: Fine Art and Design is happy to donate 25% of this weeks profit to the cause.

Thank you to everyone who came to support Garland and celebrate his Birthday. He is such a loving and caring person. We need more Garland in the world!

Gallery Hours:

Open: Tuesday ~ Saturday 10AM to 6PM          Closed: Sunday ~ Monday

Designers of Distinction 2017 Awards

IS: Honored

Today I attended the Designers of Distinction 2017 Awards of Excellence Luncheon. I am greatly appreciative to have been nominated as one of five finalists in the Designers of Distinction Designer to Watch category.

I want to sincerely thank my colleagues, who thought I should be recognized for my talents in interior design.  With close to 200 firms submitted, your selection of me... as one of the five nominees was such a great and unexpected honor.

What a way to recognize a hard years work! There are so many new and exciting projects ahead, and I am thrilled to have finally opened IS: Fine Art and Design my new gallery in Noe Valley,

As an artist and designer my profession provides so many opportunities for creativity and growth, that it is difficult not to excel. This nomination distinguishes Ian Stallings Design as a design firm with a real commitment to build meaningful, profound, and long lasting relationships, while giving style a newfound substance.

Thank you so much!

Ian

Our Very First Friday with Artist David King

IS: Open

IS: Fine Art & Design has been christened by San Francisco artist David King. Thanks to everyone who attended the very first Friday of the month event. What a success! For this highly anticipated showing, we chose to curate a show that represents the evolution of David's work.

David King’s work explores his profound interest in the metaphysical – the underlying or fundamental interconnectedness of things.  In his abstract work, it is difficult to determine if the forms are to be read a microcosmic or macrocosmic; are we looking at a cell cluster or a planetary body?  His narrative pieces are created to be visually beautiful, intellectually stimulating, and sometimes humorous.  All of his collages are constructed in the traditional, cut-and-paste method and have an obsessive attention to detail.

David’s work has been shown in Europe and across the U.S., including venues such as Artist’s Space in New York, The Soap Factory in Minneapolis and Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, and The Lab in San Francisco.  In addition to the Lucid Arts Foundation, he has been the artist-in-residence at the San Francisco Dump, and at Ucross and Jentel, both in Wyoming.  He is also the recipient of an artist’s grant from the Pollock-Krasner Foundation.

We are very excited to present more from David, and will continue with another first Friday in his honor on Friday, March 3, 2017.

If you missed the opening, the show will be on view until the end of March. We'd love to see you!
